PJ Lynch's workshop for adults includes a 20 minute PowerPoint presentation showing highlights from his career as a best-selling and award-winning Illustrator. Next the attendees will get the chance to design a mock up of their own book cover in charcoal and chalk under PJ's expert tuition.
P. J. Lynch is a children’s book illustrator. He has won many awards including the Mother Goose Award, the Christopher Medal three times, and the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal on two occasions, first for The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey by Susan Wojciechowski, and again for When Jessie Came Across the Sea by Amy Hest.
The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey has sold more than a million copies worldwide and has been made into a play, a musical and a motion picture.
In recent years PJ has been commissioned to design posters for Opera Ireland and the Abbey Theatre. He has also designed several sets of stamps for An Post, including four Christmas issues.
Lynch has painted large scale works including two large scale murals in oils on the theme of “Gulliver’s Travels” for Cavan County Library and he has designed the largest mosaic in Europe for the Basilica at Knock, County Mayo.
Between 2016 and 2018 PJ Lynch held the title of Laureate na nÓg, Ireland’s greatest honour in the field of children’s literature.
