As this is the anniversary of the formation of the Irish state, Michael has the fashion of the 1920’s for the children to dress up in, genuine antiques to test out which will illustrate the lifestyle.
1922 was also a time of conflict so Michael has the uniforms of the Irish Constabulary and the British Army to wear. The Irish Volunteer, the Irish Citizens Army and the old I.R.A. and their uniforms will be there too. Each side used rifles, handguns and machine guns in the fight so the children will get hold of them too, load and unload and pull the triggers.
The show will teach history by immersing the kids in experiential hands-on learning that will be fun and exciting.
Michael Moylan is a Heritage Specialist with the Heritage Council with 20 year's experience teaching and demonstrating history.
Using humour and a hands-on approach all eras from the Stone Age to Modern the children get to play the part of a hunter-gatherer or a Viking or a Pirate. In every case they dress up in period costume or armour, use the tools and household appliances of the day and get to try out real weapons like swords, muskets and guns.
