At the start of 2024 the publication of Estelle Birdy’s debut novel Ravelling was much anticipated by the media. Now that Ravelling has been released to critical acclaim, join Estelle as she talks to author Zoe Miller about her novel and the joys and fears of being a debut novelist. 

 

Estelle Birdy was born in London, grew up in Dundalk and moved to The Liberties in Dublin, where she still lives today, in her late teens. Her poetry and short stories have appeared in various anthologies and literary journals and her debut novel, Ravelling, won the 2020 Irish Writers Centre Novel Fair. She and Ravelling were selected for the European Commission and European Writers Council European Day of Authors in 2024. She is a book critic and is an Arts Council Peer Panellist and Irish Book Awards Panellist.


Zoë Miller writes contemporary, suspense-themed fiction and her thirteenth novel, The Birthday Weekend, was published by Hachette Books Ireland in March 2024. Previous novels include The Perfect Sister and The House in the Woods. Zoë has been writing since childhood when she loved mystery stories so much she felt compelled to write them herself. Her writing career includes freelance journalism and short fiction. Zoë lives in Knocklyon and divides her time between her writing room and her family.
